Avoid Living in The Past   1 comment

Avoid Living in The Past

Strive for a Better Future and To Become a Better Person

__ Ellen J. Barrier

Avoid living in the past. Accept God’s forgiveness for your wrongdoings, and strive for a better future, and to become a better person.  Otherwise, you will become a prisoner locked behind the corridors of your past.

You Must Release the Past from Your Mind

“But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”  Apostle Paul

Living in the Past by Choice

For the individual who are able to make choices, but due to anger and grudges, refuses to let go of the past, he or she made the choice to become a prisoner of their past.  Such individuals are mean spirited people.  Living in their past, only makes them bitter, unkind and unhappy, because they refuge to forget what someone may have said or done to them, that they didn’t like,  and they aren’t about to forget, and in their mind, they are never going to forgive.

The Helpless Prisoner

Some people are afraid to move on.  Therefore, they are living in the past.  There are different reasons for which people are imprisoned in their past.  Fear and unhappiness can hold a person as a prisoner. They  prevent that person from making changes in their lives. They aren’t able to set goals because of the fear and unhappiness they are shackled to. They can’t release themselves from their prison.

The cause of fear and unhappiness is oftentimes due to a bad relationship or abuse that such an individual experienced.  Therefore, they would need someone to help them by working patiently with them.  Otherwise, they will remain a prisoner in their past (psychologically). This is a helpless prisoner.

God’s Blessings Comes with Conditions   Leave a comment

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Deuteronomy 28: 1,2 (K.J.V)

Note: As with all Valuable things that comes with a price tag, so does God’s blessings.

There are conditions that God requires before he hands out his blessings. Some of us are too busy meddling in other people’s affairs that we are allowing our own requirement to go unchecked; flaws in the fabric of our own lives are cause for not receiving God’s blessings.

As parents, we don’t reward our children with gifts when they disobey us. Neither does our Father in Heaven reward us when we disobey him.

Keeping Your Business Safe   Leave a comment

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to shew forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Psalm 92:1, 2 (K.J.V)

Note: Giving thanks to God and singing praises inspires hope, and produces courage, determination, and strength. It also, gives us comfort and peace. Those who possess find satisfaction. Surveys have been done with positive results for prayer regarding those who pray frequently.

There are times when every individual need to empty their mind to someone without having their personal business being publicized to others who can make things worse by spreading false rumors.

Prayer works for me.

Flesh vs. Spirit: the War Within   Leave a comment

Whether trying to maintain a desired weight, remaining faithful to a spouse or reaching a goal, temptation exists – causing its victim to make a choice and sometimes several choices. When the individual feels guilty and want to do good by correcting mistakes, but finds themselves powerless against the temptation, the battle is within -thereby, causing the individual to become imbalanced. The flesh and the spirit are now at war.

Paul, the Apostle, clearly understood these things. He stated, ” For I know that in me [that is, in my flesh] dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but  the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” Romans 7:18-20.

No human being, is empowered to live above temptation. But, we can find ways to control our fleshly desires, and to reach our goals. It is too difficult to fight these battles alone – to do so, often leads to self destruction. For more information, I recommend this book to inspire courage, hope and strength.

Depression and Distress   1 comment

Depression and Distress

My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am like a sparrow alone upon the house top.

But thou, LORD, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

This shall be written for all generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.

For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth: to hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

Note: When people are experiencing overwhelming pangs of despair from the loss of a loved one or loved ones, terminal illness, health problems, loss of income, personal property, (one of both home or vehicle), and other personal losses; when there is no place to go for help, or when help comes too slow;

stress becomes unbearable and if not controlled, the individual will lapse into stages of depression. When a person becomes distressed, the mind looks for a way to escape from the prison that individual feels they are in. There are different methods people seek that they feel will best help them. During these times sleep is most affected. Some people experience panic attacks.

The writer of this information shared his experience with us. He turned to Spiritual intervention for deliverance and help, to rebuild his life.

Anger Without a Cause   2 comments

We have to address Intimidation. To intentional behave in any way that would cause harm to another person or to instill fear of injury to receive pleasure or to achieve something to one’s own satisfaction is wrong.

We can’t teach children to respect each other and refrain from bullying when they see such behavior among adults. All of the efforts that are done will make the job of those of us in society who wants to stop bullying very difficult.

Jesus taught that one should treat others with the same respect they want to receive. Whether for religious or political purposes, or for any reason one might feel the need to intimidate others to achieve something, in the end there is nothing of value to be gained.

Scripture:

But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: Matthew 5: 22 (K.J.V)
