Little Chicky is designed to bring you all of the benefits for getting your body in the proper shape. Please click on the link above for the video. Bring each knee up to the chest ten times slowly (do not straighten the legs)

Bring both knees up to the chest:
(you should feel your abdominal muscles tighten) Hold this position for thirty counts while deep breathing. (repeat several times)

While lying in this position, take three deep breaths and slowly lift yourself up to a sitting position, never let go of your knees. Slowly return to the previous position, and rock your body back and forth by using your hands to support your knees.

To help you with your exercise, I have put together my own personal exercise program. Dancing to the instructions on the video will help you to exercise all of your extremities. (Part 1 and 2)

You will have to find the strength to overcome those things that will challenge your mind and defeat them. Being a career woman with a family is challenging in many ways. Spending time with family, while keeping a schedule up- to-date with meetings, and job performances are demanding.  I t  leaves very little time for personal care and activities.

To be able to have a meaningful career and a family life that is well organized, takes lots of effort and adequate planning from day- to-day. Having a physically fit body with a competent mind to make decisions are absolutely required.

There are many things that challenge our ability to endure and persevere. When we discover the power within ourselves, we become victorious. The strength we find within ourselves gives us endurance and perseverance power.

The best gifts anyone can give to themselves are good health habits and activities to stay healthy.

Preventing Obesity

Exercise:

From crib to adult years exercise is very important. When babies are placed on a quilt on the floor, they can move around easier, and have closer contact with the parents and family. This aids in crawling and walking a lot sooner. There are many things parents can do to help their children get the proper exercise they need.  The best encouragement for exercise is for parents to engage in an exercise program with their children.  Having exercise equipment in the home is profitable to both parents and their children.

Scheduling:

Having a set time for each meal is very important, it prevent snacking before meals that can prevent eating the most important food. If a child is not hungry during the meal because they are filled from snacks, they aren’t going to eat, or if they are encouraged to eat, this will add extra calories and will lead to weight gain.  And it sends a message to the brain to eat, even though the child isn’t hungry, that is carried throughout their teenage years and into adult years, which can result in obesity.

Good Health Habits:

As parents, we pass much of our cultural traditions to our children. We should choose things that are good to aide in preventing obesity in childhood, and to encourage good health habits in future generations.

How we prepare meals and scheduling are examples we set for our children.  Practicing good health habits includes proper hygiene, hand washing to prevent transmitting germs, and personality traits with respect for parents and others are a part of good health habits.

The Importance of Exercise for a Healthy Heart

When we exercise our body parts, we are exercising our heart.  Exercising increases the efficiency of contraction and output of the heart per beat. The heart of a physically fit person has an increase in blood output per heartbeat. Therefore, such an individual’s heart does not need to beat as fast during exercise.  The demand on the heart output (blood pumped per minute) remains constant while resting. Therefore, the heart rate that is needed to maintain this output is less in a physically fit person.

During Rest:  Blood Flow per Minute

Brain__   ½ pint (0.25 liter)

Skin__ 1 pint (0.5 liter)

Muscles__ 2 pints (1 liter)

Coronary arteries ½ pint (0.25 liter)

Digestive system /liver__ 3 pints (1.5 liters)

Kidneys 1 ½ pints (0.75 liter)

Your body makes enormous demands on your heart under different conditions.  At rest, the total blood volume is pumped in about one minute.

During Exercise: Blood Flow per Minute

Brain__  ½ pint (0.25 liter)

Skin___ 4 pints (2 liters)
Muscles__ 24 pints (12 liters)

Coronary arteries __ 1 ½ pints (0.75 liter)

Digestive System /liver__ 1 pint (0.5 liter)

Kidneys__ 1 ½ pints (0.75 liter)

During strenuous exercise, there is a major change in the rate of blood flow through different parts of the body. This is brought about by changes in the degree of constriction of the small arteries.
