When Tragedies Strikes   Leave a comment

When Tragedies Strikes

In times of tragedies, and loss of loved ones, we seek for answers and for strength to deal with the pain that causes discomfort. We know that within our souls, only our creator can comfort us, and give the needed strength within us, to enable us to rise up! And deal with the situation that we have encountered, victoriously. Each individual have to find the courage and strength to continue to live their lives at their own pace. Not everyone deal with tragedies and losses the same as others. Some people need a longer time and a slower pace.

Some ask, Why?

Scripture:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:10, 12

God holds accountable those who inflict pain and cause the death of another individual without justifiable cause such as in the case of self-defense, or to save another individual’s life. He will not allow such individual to go unpunished by his own judgment and time.

He also, will judge those in leadership positions who are using politics and passing laws and are using their influences that are not helping to better the nations, but are rather destroying its people and separating them.

When a tragedy happen, each one of us should ask ourselves, what can I do to make this world safer?

As a parent, we should ask, am I being the parent that I need to be?

Am I living the example for my children that will help them to be respectful to others and to value the life of others?

We live in a society that is addicted to violence. It is up to us to teach our children, and other children not to commit wrongful acts. It is time for all parents to work together, with teachers, and with other leadership individuals, to help our young people avoid violence.

A young person should be able to have the knowledge to make a righteous decision, about what they view. A song, or a movie, or book that portrays a violent act, is no cause for anyone to commit those acts upon another individual. Acting is what it is! It is not real! The people are entertainers, who are paid to do their job. They don’t commit the acts of the individuals they are portraying.

Case in Point:

The Bible is filled with violent acts committed by young and old. Those things were recorded for our learning, for the purpose that we shouldn’t commit them. And to know that those things displeases God, and to expect his punishment.

Lord, Make Me Better   5 comments

God is to us what the potter is to clay that is molded into beautiful vessels. He has the wisdom to make us better. There are times when our lives become marred with unrighteous behavior toward God, and toward other people.  Somewhere along the way, we stopped caring about how we treated others, and became selfish, arrogant and lifted up in pride.

We lost our human-feeling of kindness, respect for ourselves and for others. We forgot what it feels like to be lied on, to be cheated out of something that belonged to us, to be treated equal with others, we forgot how to love and how to like. And developed a lack of caring.

Such individuals have ended up in a prison they built for themselves – that is one of sadness, shame and loneliness.  They became angry with themselves, and developed hate toward others. Therefore, the spirits of destruction controls their bodies and souls. They have become a danger to themselves and to society. The demons living within such individuals hold them in a prison of madness, one of which they can never escape without the power of God.

*Demons are evil spirits. They have no conscious. Their purpose is to destroy.

Scripture:  In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. Psalm 120:1

When Hate is Too Great a Burden to Bear   Leave a comment

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. ~ Psalm 21:8

My Thoughts:

When we talk less and listen closely to things that are published, we can gather lots of information, including some negative things that are being said about us. Some of the talk that is “heard through the grapevine,” comes from people who we discover to be our enemies. That’s when we have to use our knowledge to determine how we want to deal with those who hate us.

Hating those who hate us is too great a burden to bear. But, we know we can’t ever turn our back to our enemies. We have to watch and pray, and always be prepared to defend ourselves with a sound and righteous plan. Our enemies are always plotting and looking for ways to destroy us.

The enemy doesn’t care how he or she destroys. Their only purpose is to win. They have no remorse. They see their accomplishment as a victory. An enemy can’t be a friend. That would be impossible.

When Unpleasant News Causes a Lack of Hope   Leave a comment

When Unpleasant News Causes a Lack of Hope

Weak job report out today:   84,000 jobs reportedly were added in June.  Many are disappointed.

July 06, 2012

“Very seldom will a person give up on himself. He continues to have hope because he knows he has the potential for change … Yet people are very quick to give up on friends, and especially on their spouses, to declare them hopeless, and to either walk away or do nothing more than resign themselves to a bad situation”.

Hugh Prather (Life Quotes Lib)

Why art thou cast down, O my soul?  And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Psalm 42:5 (K.J.V)

Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.   Psalm 42:8 (K.J.V)

My Thoughts:

Hope is the strength that everyone needs to persevere in the face of unpleasant news.  It is a waste of time and energy to focus on unpleasant news, when one can best help themselves and others by thinking of ways to deal with an unpleasant situation, in a positive manner.

In regards to the economy, we have to work together and help each other. Blaming someone else for the slow growth of the economy, won’t help it to grow.  There are too many other reasons for the cause of the economy to be weak; some of them are beyond our human ability to understand.

When each of us look within ourselves as having the ability to change things, and is willing to work with others to bring about positive changes, we are a powerful force.  With God on our side, nothing can stop our success.

It’s OK to Be Different from Others   1 comment

I am here!

“My kids are starting to notice I’m a little different from the other dads. “Why don’t you have a straight job like everyone else?” they asked me the other day.

I told them this story:

In the forest, there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. Every day, the straight tree would say to the crooked tree, “Look at me…I’m tall, and I’m straight, and I’m handsome. Look at you…you’re all crooked and bent over. No one wants to look at you.” And they grew up in that forest together. And then one day the loggers came, and they saw the crooked tree and the straight tree, and they said, “Just cut the straight trees and leave the rest.” So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day.”

― Tom Waits

WHY boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endureth continually. Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou loveth evil more than good; and lying more than righteousness. Selah. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy thee forever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

Psalm 52:1-5 (King David)

Story:

The Foolish, Pride, Self-righteous, and Vain People, Status with God

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed this with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

The Effects:

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

God’s Righteous Judgment:

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

St. Luke 18:9-14

My Thoughts:

“And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day.”

Although the author of this quote was criticized, and poked fun at for being different, as was the publican in the parable that Jesus gave, the two men were achievers.  We find that being different can work for the individual who are comfortable with themselves, and most importantly work hard to achieve greatness. In the case of the publican, who prayed to God for help, many others do the same.

To be and achiever in the face of criticism, one has to stay focused on their goal. Failure comes when  negative thoughts are allowed to enter into the mind.  Avoiding negative influences while working on a goal, is the best approach to take,  in order to become an achiever.

I have been confronted with criticism many times, and told, I couldn’t reach my goals. My message to those who criticized me was, and remains, I will never give up!

Some people view my work as strange. Like the author of the quote, I am growing stronger and stranger every day. I am humble, and prayerful to God daily for his mercy to me.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11

Confidence to Succeed in Competition   2 comments

Muhammad Ali

“To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.”

Muhammad Ali

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us.   And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”  1 John 5:14 & 1 John 5:15

Things we Desire: happiness, good health, prosperity and success.

When we closely examine God’s Purpose for our lives, we find that he wants us to be happy, successful and prosperous, and to be in the best of health. Those are his blessings with purpose for us. He doesn’t receive glory and honor for his greatness by seeing his people suffer. He has given us many things to use to obtain our desires. He has provided us with talents and educational tools to become successful and prosperous.

Muhammad Ali, who I very much admire for his confidence, has given us some words of wisdom to follow is quoted, “To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.”

Talent and Education: When it comes to competing with the best and brightest in whatever your talent or educational skill is, you have to have the confidence within yourself, that you are able to “Bring it!” I used this term because this is basically, what the writer in this Biblical statement is saying, when he used the term “Take his portion,”

“Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power, to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.”  Ecclesiastes 5:19

God’s Purpose for our Life: Prosperity, good health, success, and happiness

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest  prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 2

“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” Ecclesiastes 2:24

Riches and Wealth: God has given us talents and educational tools, to obtain riches and wealth. We can take our portion of the good things in life that we are endowed by our inalienable rights from God, if we have the confidence it takes within ourselves, to compete and to succeed, by being willing to fight for them.

Stroke Victim Healed: Memory, Speech, and Walking Returned   1 comment

Stroke Victim Healed Memory Speech and Walking Returned

During the summer in which I graduated from high school, my mother was stricken with a stroke, causing paralysis to her right side-upper and lower extremities, including the right side of her head and face, and loss of speech and memory. She was comatose for several weeks. Her physicians informed us there was nothing else they could do for her. At this point, there were no signs of improvement. They said, “She will never walk again, go and purchase a wheelchair for her.”

A few days later, prior to my mother’s dismissal from the hospital, as I looked down at her small frame lying helpless in bed, the pain of sorrow I felt, is too unbearable to describe. I cried uncontrollably. Then, suddenly there was someone standing beside me, saying with authority and assurance, “This Sickness Is Not Unto Death.”

Immediately, I stopped crying, This voice was not of this world. I have never heard anyone speak in that tone. Therefore, I trembled with fear. There was no one in the room other than my mother and myself. The door was closed. While shaking, I went out of the room to see if someone was at the door,  I didn’t see anyone standing in the hall. I then, checked on my mother, she was still comatose.

I sat down and tried to figure out this messenger. I had read in the bible about God and his Angels speaking to people, but I had never heard of it happening outside of the bible. I accepted the fact that this messenger was of God, because no human being could possibly speak in that tone, with that kind of authority and assurance.

I began to thank God, and praise him, then I stopped shaking. I told my family and the church members, along with our pastor, about my encounter. We all praised God for my mother’s healing, because he had sent an Angel to let us know that he had heard our prayers!

When we took my mother home, from the hospital, there was no change. A few days later, she came out of the coma. She couldn’t speak, and didn’t recognize any of us. We had to care for her as one would care for an infant. She couldn’t feed her self, nor could she move her extremities. Therefore, she had to be turned. She required lots of care.

Two year later, without any physical therapy, my mother, was able to walk without a cane. She didn’t need the wheel chair any more. She recognized us, and was able to speak very clearly. God showed us his power. And for that, my mother along with us, gave him honor and praise. He added twenty beautiful years to my mother’s life.
